Version 1.5: Score Attack Mode!
Hello everyone!
Earlier this month, I finally released version 1.5 of Poker Poker Magic. It includes a highly requested feature: Score Attack! I’ve taken extra care to make it fun and I hope that you will like it!
What is Score Attack?
In this mode, you play without an opponent to achieve the best score possible. It’s a good way to compete with your friends and family, but since it’s only you against the cards, it’s also great to take your time and learn or just to relax without the pressure of CPU attacks.
Visualize Your Progress
Before you start, you can view your last 20 scores in a line chart. It’s a great way to track your progress and improvement!
Under the chart, you’ll find a scoreboard showing the top 20 scores (scroll with the arrows or the crank). All players on a same Playdate share a single scoreboard. The Catalog version also includes the top 9 global scores alongside your local scores thanks to its exclusive Scoreboard API.
(Your scores are highlighted on a black background so you can easily see which ones are yours).
Cheer Chains
In game, Caroline is here to cheer you on! And about that, there is a hidden chain mechanism exclusive to Score Attack!
When you clear cards, Caroline takes a cheering pose:
If you manage to clear more cards during the 40 seconds of her cheering, you will trigger a Cheer Chain! Caroline will strike a unique pose (see the gif below) and a small sound will ring if you made it right.
Each hand you make has an added score bonus of Cheer Chain count × 25%!
This mechanic makes Score Attack enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Even if you don’t master traditional combos or if you miss one, you can still reduce clutter and score a lot of points at the same time with a Cheer Chain!
Ready to Play?
I hope you enjoy this new addition to Poker Poker Magic! I would love to hear your feedback or see your best scores in the comments!
Thanks for reading and have fun!
